George Harrison

I want to add a little post to this thread just to
show my respect to all the members of The Beatles,
and especially to George Harrison.
I was waiting for George Harrison's death,
because he'd been ill for quite some time.
But didn't know it would happen so quickly....

The Beatles have ment alot to me, and still do :o)

I brought my Sgt. Pepper cd to work that day.. haven't heard it in a few years.

And you may not like George Harrison, but the music he wrote was the foundation upon which current rock/metal is based. Without him, I'm willing to bet that Opeth never existed..

I could spit in his dead body and have dogs desecrate it. Im tired of o they opened the doors, respect judas priest respect maiden, i respect no one not even myself, i will never do and i will never stand up and let somebody else make me. He was a talentless idiot that made himself rich by playing music that was no better than the today's pop garbage. Im glad he is dead i wish paul and ringo would die too

I find it strange how George Harrison got comparitively little coverage compared to the death of Aaliyah.

I'm not a fan of the Beatles, but I can sure tell you that George deserved a lot more respect than Aaliyah...and that really annoys me.

Thank you for your thoughts you fucking Wetback :tickled:

No one deserves respect. No one achieves anything in life because there is nothing to achieve, no one can just face the fact that he is gone everyone always wants to build up someone after they die i makes me sick. I love the poeple i want to in life not after they die, i would not feel guilty after they are gone. People just never learned how to deal with death not after 5 000 000 years

Surely you respect Mikael. Don't you?

You seem to have a very negative outlook on ...er..everything. Its all in the eyes of the beholder. Everyone see's the world diffrently. It what you make it, man. The belief of having no beliefs is a belief.

yeah i mean i have no particular resentment against george harrison, i mean i dont know the guy, but i think people are hypocritical, i mean no one had mentionned george harrison for years, no one cared where he was or what he was doing, not even when we knew he had cancer was anyone really concerned, but now once he's dead its like oh what a great guy, how can we live without him, he was a genius... what difference does it make now? if you loved his work tell him while he's alive, a lot of fucking good it does to build him up once he's dead

I respect his work. I wish i could do something even close myself. I do not respect him as a person i do not even know him at all.

And who say i have the belief of having no beliefs? i do not care about beliefs at all and change my mind whenever i found it correct to do so without looking back, always trying to figure out what is more logical that is what i do i do not have beliefs or claim that i do not want to i just do not see that as a relevant thing

He died! Come on! When else would the media praise him? I'm sure quite a few people were still into George Harrison's solo work before he died. I don't think they are kissing his ass cause he's dead. He's a legend (even if you don't agree) and he's gone. He changed the world, wrote some great songs and now he's dead. No one is building him up! He's fucking George Harrison. He doesn't need building up.

What else is there to respect other than one's work? Their personality or something. Respect comes from accomplishment and deeds. Mikael wrote all those songs and that makes me respect him. I don't give a fuck if he kills babies, he wrote that music and I respect the hell out of him. You don't have to know someone to respect them. Most people are shit inside. Its what they do that matters.

but i dont respect george harrison's work so i guess its there we differ, and i guess i see the world differently, and what i see is a lot of hypocrites who have made him the hero of the day and will just as soon forget about him...

if i asked you all a month ago what you thought of george harrison as an guitarist or a songwriter im sure i would have gotten a different, more honest response than if i asked the same question today...

I consider Legends stupid and want nothing to do with them. In any kind. And besides:

I consider 99% of the people who mourns for him hypocritical. If you think he was that great tell him in life and let him rest in peace it makes no difference now if you respected his work ( but i see hints or something other than that ) the time to praise him because of his work is when his alive. Now talk about what he done if you must, but it is meaningless to respect someone and care about his death if you only respected his work. I would not stop consider you hypocritical until you spit on his grave too because something is stopping you.

My opinion of George Harrison hasn't changed because he's dead. I liked him before and I like him still. I'm no great fan of his but I do think highly of him. I loved all the Indian stuff he blended into the beatles. I think the Beatle's songs he did write are among the best. 'Something' and ' While my guitar gently weeps' are superb. If someone had attacked George Harrison right to appraisal a month ago I would have defended it just the same. He may be dead but my world hasn't changed nor my opinions.

I do not mourn for George Harrison. I didn't need to tell him he was great in life, I'm sure he had enough people doing that already. I'm not praising him because he's dead, I'm praising him because this is the George Harrison thread and It seemed like the place to praise. Of course if he had not died then this thread would have never been posted so in which case I would have never said nothing.( on this broad, at least)

Question Misinthrope: What is this respect you speak of?

Respect: caring about someone, looking up to someone, worring about someone, taking advice from someone. I stand incorrect and there is only 1 person in the world who i respect my beloved Maria.

On a side note i think the whole thread is stupid to begin with.

I think that is love, not respect. Or should I say love and respect.

The definition of the word.
Respect (Verb)- high or special regard.

So you do hold Opeth in high of special regard don't you?
