Getting a good tone?

For years I've been trying different things to get a good sound but I've been having a lot of trouble with it. I'm looking to get a good djent/core-like tone. I'm looking for a tone like The Acacia Strain's "Cauterizer", or Delusions of Grandeur's "Theatrophy". Any suggestions as to what kind of equipment (both recording equipment and guitar equipment) I should be using?

I know this is old from years ago, but if you are trying to get that tone, you need an OVERDRIVE!

There are many of amps that give that quintessential bite for the tone.

As I posted, seriously you need an OVERDRIVE! Some slight delay for that ambient tone if needed.
