Since I've started playing in a band I've decided to get a new amp. My current amp is completely unsuitable for anything other than practice and it doesn't have the right tone for the sort of music that I'm going to be playing, nor the right tone for the music that I like.
After a bit of research I've come up with a few options. I live in Australia so don't be surprised if these prices seem high, because everything here is more expensive than in the USA.
The three amps that I'm most interested in are:
1. Peavey 6505 Plus 112 Combo $999 AUD
2. Laney IRT60-212 Combo $1266 AUD
3. Blackstar HT Club 50 Head with Blackstar Series One 212 Cab $1398 AUD
If anything, I'd prefer the Blackstar, followed by the Laney, followed by the Peavey.
I mostly enjoy playing melodic metal such as Kalmah, Wintersun and Ensiferum. But I also play pretty much every other genre as well so the amp needs to be versatile all the way from crisp cleans to crushing lows and melodic shredding.
My price range is pretty much under $1400 AUD with the very maximum being $1500 AUD.
Which one of these amps would you recommend? And does anyone know of some really kicking amps in this price-range that I don't know about?
