I have a ff800 interface and i am looking to get more i/o to work with it. what would be the best option to do this? Get another ff800 and daisy chain them togerther? need some opinions
What about an adi-8?
Then light pipe into your ff.
The adi's converters are better than the ones in your ff, so make sure to use those as your first 8 inputs/outputs

If you want a cheap but still pretty good IMO, the Focusrite OctoPre MkII or Focusrite OctoPre MkII Dynamic are good value. Same deal, adat lightpipe into your fireface

I second this for something cheap yet effective. I've got one that i use when tracking drums all the time. That said, i also have an ADI-8 AE and it's been my primary AD/DA converter for my outboard gear and monitors. These are great converters and if you can find a good one used, it's a great way to get into the higher end converters for cheap.
I am curious about being able to link 2 FF800 together though. Can it be used with ProTools and does it see them as 2 individual units with 2 banks of ADAT each for a total of 4? I've been wondering about this for a while.
Yeah cause right now i have two adat mic pre's a presonus d8 and a focusrite octopre mkII dynamic. I am looking to get more I/O to hook up more outboard while still keeping both adat's hooked up since we use almost all of those inputs. we have a total of 23 mic inputs right now we use. But we are looking for more I/O to hook up more outboard comps and high end mic pres. And of course without having to go the patchbay route just yet.
