It was. And Moonspell is another doom-ish band that is bigger than most of the prog power bands. =)

Moonspell is not a fit for PPUSA or the Showcase. Violates the rules of clean vocals, as there are none with Moonspell. If they were, then Akercocke, which is progressive black metal, would have played PPUSA and/or the Showcase already first.

Moonspell was ok when I saw them, but nothing special IMO. I haven't seen Amorphis yet and that would be pretty cool.

Well, I may still go to GT, but I agree with this. I actually left a show where they were the third band up, 'cause I couldn't take it anymore. Skipped the headliner too. It was that painful (and a cold, rainy, weeknight and I had to drive.)

At one time (before they became "big" in the States), Glenn considered Children of Bodom. What was that you said about clean vocals?

And, Moonspell does have some clean vox.

That said, I'd love to see either Moonspell or Amorphis, but having both play the Showcase the same year would be too much of a sea-change.

I don't exactly dig In Flames's new stuff, but at the very least it'll be tolerable, hopefully cool. And I'm sure they'll throw in a few classics. Bodom's changed their style a little too, but not as drastically. Theystill rule. The new Megadeth album is pretty cool, but they'll mix it with old stuff. JFAC sucks hairy ass, and High on Fire are pretty cool.

The way I see this, we're getting the kickass, more mainstream metal bands that we'd get with Ozfest while simultaneously eliminating all the hardcore jerks and emo losers. I'd love to go to a fest like this without having to see some idiot ground pounding like Mario or whatever they call it.
