That's adorable. Just comparing 86 to 92, the genre as a whole is producing far more quality, quantity, and variety. The early-mid 90s IS the golden age. (On the other hand, if you meant the golden age of heavy metal is pretty much over by 92, then I agree with you).

i think most bands from the 90s would agree with it tbh, a lot of the major bands started out pretty blatantly worshipping stuff from the '80s. besides, i think the golden age of anything always precedes the silver age?

I'm definitely more of a 90s guy personally. Most of my favourite albums were realeased in that decade. I also have way more honourable mentions for this year than the 1986 one.

1996! Morningrise, Load, some Deep Purple album I've never heard, Roots, and Aspera Heims Symphonia.

If Motley Crue also released an album we're in for the perfect storm

1980's is the golden age. 1990's is the silver age.

Really depends on the subgenre, and it's not always defined by decade lines. For example thrash would like '83 to '93, but there was a lot of good heavy metal in the mid 70's to mid 80's

80's metal > 90's metal. Not an opinion, but rather a stone cold fact

It's not that black and white, again it depends on the subgenre. There was more/better tech thrash in the early 90's, even Rust In Peace was 1990. I'd say the 90's had more good death metal albums overall than the 80's also (though the 80's had some of my favorites the selection is limited). Anyway my point was why break it up into 80-89 and 90-99 the choice is arbitrary. I choose to use 83-93 for thrash, 87-98 for death, and like 70-85 for heavy. You can't just make a blanket statement for all of metal, for stoner it's like 92-present, similar for prog metal etc.

I actually mentioned Rust in Peace in my post then edited out because i said "most", not all. Im kind of amazed that you thought you had to point out when my favorite album of all time way released, lol. And that album is still pretty much an 80's thrash album at heart.

Most of my favorite albums form my favorite bands came out in the 80's. Again, key word there is MOST.

@Baroque Yes, i love those albums ... but if we are talking about which of those two decades released MORE of the albums i like or consider to be favorites than it's not even close imo. And you conveniently seem to be skipping the MOST part in my posts. Do you really need me to list a never-ending list of bands and albums form the 80's(Megadeth, Slayer, Testament, Morbid Angel, Sodom, Destruction, Death, Pestilence, Sepultura, Sadus, Coroner etc ... i can go on forever) that i consider to be amongst my favorites?
