Any other fans of this great band out there? I just picked up the new one, Way Beyond, recently. I like it a lot! Not as intense as their other cds, but very mesmerizing. My favorite is still Resurrection, what a classic all the way through! I have the first two also, and although I enjoy them both (both are produced by Dan Swano), I don't listen to them too often.

Anyways, any thoughts on the new cd or the band in general?

ha! that is exactly what discouraged me from checking
them out the first opportunity i had. godgory. but i
must say that they are a pretty talented band.

i am currently listening to Sea of Dreams. but yes,
Resurrection is their best, which i just heard a month
ago. Swano led them in a good direction.

Godgory are an interesting band with a very own style. I dislike their faster songs however (I mean on the Nuclear Blast albums) as they a typical Swedish Death Metal. The opener of Way Beyond is a real killer. The only thing I really find boring is the Vocals as they are very monoton. It would perhaps fit much better if they chose to use clean vocals as they'd fit very good into their music and could be quite lucrative for them too *g*

It's a shame that they have such an crappy name as it does not fit to their style...

Their latest, Way Beyond, is very good. As with Resurrection, the production and musicianship is outstanding. The new one doesn't have as many fast songs as Res does (I kind of liked the alternating slow and fast song approach on Res). The new one has a great overall feel to the whole cd though.

As far as the name goes, I read somewhere that they were a Christian band, but I find that hard to believe. The name didn't turn me off at all, but then I heard the music before I knew what their name was.

It is true that a name can sometimes cause you to dismiss a band without giving them a chance first. A classic example for me was the band Death. I always assumed they were just a brutal simplistic thrash type band, then I finally gave them a listen after several fellow musicians suggested them. Now I love them.
