Godreligion?

Godreligion is a term that I came up w/ to describe any and all organized religions that believe in "God","Jesus Christ", the "Bible","The 10 Commandments",etc. They are-
Christianity
Catholosicm
Baptist
Methodist
Lutheran
Mormon
Protestant...and whatever the hell else they call themselves.
What is the difference between any of these organizations?Why do we need them,anyway?What is the purpose of any religion at all?If anyone here is a member of one or more of any of these organizations,then would you care to explain your beliefs?While I totally despise all organized religions due to my Catholic upbringing and 5 yrs. in a Catholic school,I'm not starting my own religion-as Warrell Dane suggests.Like I said,I don't see a purpose to ANY type of religion at all.Is there anyone here who can answer my questions?Is there anyone here whom I've offended?Or is there anyone here like me who shares my views and would like to chat?Please make your opinion known so I'm not the only one.

Religion confuses me. Too many doctrines, beliefs, dogmas, etc... Which religion is the right one? Buddhism, Toaism, Confucianism, Baptist, Mormon, Protestant, Christianity, Satanism, Scientology, Catholic, Luthean, Episcopalian,etc....
I guess I'm Agnostic because i don'tknow what to believe.

As Nevermore says..."Believe in nothing".In the cd booklet of Tool's Aenima cd,isn't there this whole thing that starts out talking about anestisia(the best kind of drug,by the way)and ends up being about how beliefs are dangerous?Well,I agree w/that.Strong beliefs in gods,heavens,hells,commandments,etc. drive people to do stupid and ridiculous things like denying sick people medical care,murdering,disowning family. I've gotten into serious arguements w/ my parents about my not believing in god.And,not to sound sappy,it really hurts me when my dad looks at me with anger and contempt,asking me why I don't believe in god.It also makes me sick to think that my family believe in something so impossible and don't even question it.I know for a fact that I am an athiest,I've gone past the questioning stage.

All of those you listed are all Christianity and the core beliefs are essentially the same. What's different is the interpretation of specific passages of the Bible.

The Bible is hilarious. I don't understand how anyone can actually follow all of those rules and learn all of that meaningless, made up story. The followers of the Godreligions are merely looking for something to turn to so that they don't have to be miserable and depressed all the time as they face reality. However, I prefer depression and misery to believe in something that is completely impossible. Yeah, there's some guy in the sky and he died and came back to life... I don't understand how there can be a God, due to the fact that many more horrible things happen to me than good ones. If there was this God that loved me so much and whatnot, wouldn't he give me even a little help? If you read the Bible word for word, which no one should, it contradicts itself many times. In fact, if you read two pages of the Bible, it contradicts itself at least once. And, the Immaculate Conception thing? Sorry, that's just ridiculous.

All religions are good and bad.Depends on how you use them.All of them have great stories with beautiful meanings,but maybe shouldn't be taken that serious...that's all
see these stories metaphorically and you'll understand...try to see the essence of christianity,which is love.Don't forget that religions are made by people,so can't be faultless.

Religion is just a tool used by several organisations to control masses of people. Responsible for many atrocities and senseless acts of agression and mass murder.

My take on religion is that a couple of people wrote some books with memorable stories in them to teach people to do certain things, and not do others. Sort of like a guide book, but as people couldn't read/write stories were better, as you remember tham and tell them on. That and the fact that a couple of thousand years ago people didn't really understand much about the world. Religion and God is the answer to the question of what happens when you die. Convenient answer, also quite usefull to subjugate people (your life may be shit now, but once it's over you'll go to a better place *ahem*cough*cough*)

I am not an atheist because it's cool, rather because I really don't believe in one supreme all powerfull being. When I die, I die. game over.

I am not against organized religion because it's "cool" to be this way. Honestly, most people I know think it's "cool" to worship that Jesus guy. Which is exactly why I don't. I honestly just can't believe why anyone could buy into that bullshit. I was raised Catholic, and sort of went along with it for many years, not really knowing what it was or what it meant. When I realized how unrealistic and annoying the whole religion thing was, I decided I didn't believe in it. If people consider that "cool", well, good for them. I simply don't wish to be bothered with shit that doesn't make sense.

Yes, Darkspot, I have arrived... Of course you can let your pen pals read the Elbib- it's meant to be spread throughout this fucked up world. I need to get it out more, actually.
For anyone wondering, the Elbib is something I wrote making fun of the Bible recently. It involves a lot of drinking, sex, and basically shows how the concepts in the Bible cannot work.
Another reason for the Bible being total bullshit is science. If you know a lot of science, you begin to realize that the concepts of certain religions are impossible.

"Cool" is a totally pointless word.Look,FrostGiant,I have made up my own mind and my deicision was to not to accept any type or religion...so that would mean that I'm not a mindless puppet of Warrell Dane(he is the singer of Nevermore,in case you were wondering,Famous Amos).For I have not created my own religion,I just do what I do and there is no higher power guiding or influencing my decisions or telling me how to live my life or promoting a book full of made up stories that are totally rediculous.Morality,rightiousness and goodness bore me plus,as Amos said,everyone in our town believes in God and people glare at me,talk about me behind my back and think I worship Satan and that I am an evil fucking withch and scream upon sight of me because I don't believe in the things that they believe in.So you can see that I am not an athiest b'cause it's "cool" not to believe in God,I am one because nothing about god or Jesus Christ or The Bible makes any sense to me.And if you think about it you will realize that.Everything that the Bible use stories to explain can easily be explained by science.
