Does anybody know of any useful articles (or can you offer advice) on mixing post-metal in the vein of Isis, Cult of Luna, Neurosis, etc.? I'm trying to record a song that sounds basically like a slightly faster version of the material on A Sun That Never Sets and I'm having trouble creating the various guitar tones. I'm using an amp sim, for what it's worth. Thanks!

The unifying factor in all of the things you listed is that the are largely a recording of a band playing at the same time and of course real amps and instruments. I think you are going to have a hard time getting there with sims and/or fake drums. That said Neurosis has done a lot with Albini and it's easy to find tons of articles/interviews about him.
