Good Bass Distortion

Hello, I play bass for a local band in socal and i want to know what people think would give me a good distortion sound. We play Black Metal. so im looking for that sorta distortion. what pedals would be good to get that? and ive only got like 200 bucks so keep that i mind. thanks.

if you are looking for bass effects for black metal, just unplug your bass, you'll sound like your favorite black metal bands! YEA!

Other people can tell you how to do it but not what you will like. I would say experiment with some guitar pedals if you can. Ideally, split your sound through an EQ and only distort the high end.

Toss in a Danelectro 30$ black coffee. It can kill the low end, and sound terrifying. I'm using it in my doom metal band, but opposite.
