A straight up DI with compression can sound great for certain things, like funk.
What kind of clean are you after?

IIRC this was just a DI with a bunch of fx.

Thanks man. I do the clean vocals. Most of the clean guitars on the record are fender blues deluxe but that part was Di to podfarm but I don't think I put an amp sim in the chain.

lately i've been switching between both Amplitude3 and Poulin Hybrit with a nice KalthallenCabs IR. Hybrit has a really nice organic sound, but an overwhelming amount of low end mud.. just filter with a multiband comp.
