I'm selling my AT4040 on ebay this week. If you PM me you can snag it before I post. I'm asking $200 usd. Its a little bright but I've heard wayyyyyy worse. I used to own an NT-1A and i've used two different NT-2As and they were all brighter than the 4040 though still not too too bad.

Electrovoice RE-20 (designed to have no, I repeat, ZERO proximity effect. Just the ticket for vocalists who don't know what the fuck they're doing with a mic.)

I considered pretty much the same mics as you (the Studio Projects I considered was a B1), and ended up choosing the Mk-319 because it can be modded.

I found the Superlux CMH8G and Tue said me he use this mic for vocals..
