not just you. i'm baffled by their popularity. there's nothing really wrong with them, but nothing really right that i can hear either.

@taliesin: sitd are pretty good. you should check out aesthetic perfection and stromkern, that are pretty much in the same vein. i'm also looking forward to dunkelwerk's debut album, the tracks featured on one of the latest alfa matrix compilations were awesome.

@la rocque, rahvin: well, Im not lovey dovey of them, I just like them, I like their mixture of basically thrash riffs with their armenian insanity (less insane on the last one though ). I dont really give a shit that they sell millions of records, Id listen to them anyway.

not just you. i'm baffled by their popularity. there's nothing really wrong with them, but nothing really right that i can hear either.

They're just that catchy. I mean a lot of their songs are just verse chorus verse chorus verse chorus chorus or even chorus chorus chorus chorus like Radio/Video. Somehow it just works, although I think that some (or most) songs on Mezmerize suffer a lot from that repetition. Even at 3 minutes, most of their songs are too long.
Plus no other mainstream band gets away with playing a black metal lead on their #1 charted album.

I love this song, It reminds me of some really good times. This album is one of those that sleeps in a really wretched spot in my collection, and if only when I was choosing it was more visible, I'd definately spin it more often.
