Got myself a 7-string guitar...

...a Jackson RR7. I basically got it for free. By googling I've been able to find out that this is NOT a popular model, but I'm not really sure what people hate about it? I think it feels and sounds pretty ok. It has cheap Duncan Design pickups now, but I will replace at least the bridge pickup with a real Duncan if I still like the guitar in a few months. I was thinking EMG at first, but since I already have a couple of good guitars with EMG pickups, I decided to go passive on this one. Any suggestions for which Duncan pickup(s) I should choose?

The Full Shreds would probably add some nice body to the sound of the guitar. If it's just a standard Alder job like most Jacksons it runs the risk of sounding a bit thin.

Haha, close but no cigar.. Traded it for an old Compaq computer and some Behringer equipment. (the MX602A mini mixer + an Ultramizer)

Not Duncan, but maybe try Dimarzio Evolution7, got one and a Blaze7 on my Ibanez and they're very good.

Lundgren M7 - I like it better than any other passive 7 string I've heard. My favorite is still the EMG 707 though....

I've got a Duncan Distortion in the bridge of my 7620 and it help alot. it's the first pickup that made the guitar sound decent.

i also know a guy who has an RR7 and says it's great.

The JB-7, 59-7 and Blaze are my favourite passive 7'ers.

In what positions did you have the Evolution 7 and Blaze 7 on the guitar?

I would use a DiMarzio D Sonic 7 in the bridge and PAF 7 or Air Norton 7 in the neck, or a D Activator 7 set.
