Congrats! Not trying to be debby downer but make sure you have a job before you buy anything. Can't tell you how many buds of mine bought shit when they graduated and ended up having to sell it to pay bills 6 months down the road. Again though, Congrats.

I vote for the 6505, killer amp! Or the camcorder if your girl is into making homegrown porn....

Thanks. Yeah, I'm already working in a well-paying summerjob that is in no way related to my degree  And the monthly pay is better than in a "real" job :loco: Mostly due to the low tax since I got in as a student

dont buy the video camera. the T2i can take full 24fps 1080p HD vid.

Major +1. I'll be DP for a full length feature set to shoot in the Fall, and I'll be using that. Amazing quality in both stills and video. Buy some cheap manual focus glass and you're golden.

I guess it stores it on a memory card of some sort? Around how much space does 1 minute of 1080p 24fps video take up? (both with and without audio) And does the Canon have a built-in mic? (obviously not relevant for anything professional, but if he just wants a camera for casual video-taking, it's pretty important)

Video on a DSLR is not that good since there is no autofocus. And there is a very limited time available for filming before the camera get so hot that the battery goes down almost instantaneously.
But a DSLR takes very very good pictures, especially when paired with a good lens.

Fabbio's got it, and the reason I'm still balancing between video-DSLR vs. separate cam for filming :loco:

And 6505 vs. Canon, I really need to upgrade my digicam: I currently use a Canon Powershot G3, which is still quite good, but starts to show its age in quality, plus I'd like to get my hands on a DSLR :)

But then again, I really need a good second amp for live use (currently Powerball & Windsor), plus the 6505 could possibly allow me to get the Schecter too :loco:

And that said, I just found a 6505 for 720 euros in Finland (finding one <850 euros used is like winning the lottery )

Edit:

Okay, did some maths, and I can get both the 6505 and the Schecter Hellraiser C-1 BCH

Edit2:

Ah well, it was sold already

Congrats! :)

everything is stored on SD and SDHC and SDXC. Im not sure exactly how many mbps it is, but ive got some clips on my comp @ 40sec, 227mb. wich is to be expected with 1080p. And it does have a built in mic. And a jack for an external one too. not xlr though. but if im not mistaking, they make some type of adapter. or not. not too sure. im not sure if there is an option to take video without sound either. i havent read my manual enough i guess. but i havent heard anything of it.

Buy the ax or the amp. That other junk will be out of date in no time. Besides with that qualification you'll have contacts soon enough that will get you anything tech related cheap.
