Grand Declaration Of War Concept..

It's an album of total destruction and then new creation, I think; a bit of a Prozakish vision of nihilism being the cleansing fire before a new age of humanity. The lyrics of the first section promote the will to power, living by the sword, hating weakness and pity, slaying Christianity and everything else that promotes peace and mercy. The second part is narrated from the point of view of the cold-blooded reconstructionist who comes after the real and metaphorical war ("For i am the way/Your painful exclusion from past morals/Your future's contractual designer") to build a new kind of society. His exact vision for the world isn't spelled out, but he gives the impression of an indifference to human suffering and a taste for genetic modification. The narrator is the character referenced by the section's title, "Il Principe".

I'm sorry for you all, guys...i'm not gonna make myself new friends but it's not coz you're not able to understand something that you have to deny it, or to say that "it sounds pretentious" :tickled: ...GDOW is a fucking great album...complex, bloody rich, technical, it has everything...i listened to it 7 times last week end, i'm just obssesed by this album..for me, it's FAR AWAY better than DMDS (again, for me)...
Anyway, thanks a lot lord667 for your help..i had kinda understood that...the funny thing is that, without really understanding the lyrics, i could imagine a real war just thanks to the music: for instance, it's clear (for me) that "View From Nihil 1" sounds like a declaration of war (the drumming), "a bloodsword and a colder sun 1" sounds like the "quiet moments" after a nuclear attack or something and the second part (the electronic one) is like a nuclear winter..

Helstar - Nosferatu and Coroner - R.I.P. are technical. Grand Declaration Of War is just shit.

anyway, i just asked help about the concept, not your points of view...you like or you don't, i don't give a shit..i wish i could know why this album is that "polemical"...

Why it's polemical? Because of stupid people like you who get angry because we badmouth your favorite album. Get over it. For all you know we could be joking. I'm not, but I'm just saying. :p

He asked for the meaning of the lyrics, not your opinion of the album.

Allow me to be realistic for a second here...

If someone posts about a band, whether they want to or not, they are going to get opinions (SOMETIMES EVEN DISSES *gasp!*) on the band.

Certain people around here (not going to name names) need learn how to exercise THE GOLDEN RULE.
