Graveland

Its pretty good music, just the recording is really bad and the drumming sucks dick. Graveland is the sillyiest looking black metal band out.

Nevermind, I just finished listening to tracks 1-5 and that is some of the lamest shit I have ever heard. Boring droning riffs, Ridiculous Vocals, the drumming just gets worse and worse with the same fill over and over agian. I could fall asleep to that music.

Actually, Thousand Swords is a great CD. It is very melodic, epic, and atmospheric. The guitar tone is a bit thin for my tastes, but otherwise it is a great black metal CD.

Replace the vocalist and the drummer, and record the CD in a nice studio, and have the guitar players use more distortion, and you have a great cd.

False, not even close.

It's basically a folk album. It doesn't need more distortion. There is nothing wrong with the vocals, either, unless one dislikes black metal shrieking in general. I like the drumming, also - very martial sounding.

I heard a never Graveland song that sounded like purple unicorns flying in the clouds. Did not care for it.

Yeah but I don't like black metal so you know. I might not be a great poster but it simply sounds crappy to me. I'm a guitarist and picky as hell. Not saying people have to be virtouso's or anything but I expect something more than what i've heard from the genre. You can't really blame people for not liking it. I consider myself pretty open minded.

Jesus, Rob Darken must be about the busiest musician next to Roman Saenko. That Iron Blades album only came out about 6 months ago, didn't it?

It came out in October, 2004.

I guess he had a sudden burst of inspiration and decided to take it to it's full extent.

I'd go as far as to say that Thousand Swords rivals the best of the best in metal on just about every level, from drumming through to production.

The samples from Fire Chariots... implied an improvement upon the previous couple of albums which, whilst enjoyable, lack momentum and at times sound rushed.

I prefer Following the Voice of Blood, myself. But no doubt, Graveland is an important band in metal.

However, Graveland seems to be love 'em or hate 'em. Lots of people love 'em, the others like Dimmu Borgir.
