Where to begin...

This summer kicked in for me with John Arch and OSI... both Portnoy drum tracks under it and both great imho.

The new Spock's Beard cd came out, but I thought it didn't have the spirit of the previous cd's - great music though, but that's all.

New Sun Caged cd - what a nice surprise... ;) My honest opinion: the music is great - some things are cool 'n crazy - as a debute, totally great. My feelings are the next album, the follow up of Sun Caged will be even better, cause Andre will be involved in the entire writing process (my guessing) and so the music and lyrics will more have the same atmosphere and will be more adjusted to each other - to formulate it briefly: there's more of a band feeling. Also the album as a whole will be more balanced, I think. The "Sun Caged sound" will evolve into a more mature sound maybe. Sounds like a horoscope, dunnit.

What else...

In september came Neal Morse's Testimony. To be honest I already liked this album before I ever heard it, because I knew it would be very personal and real. I am a christian myself so I can understand where Neal is coming from and this album really can touch me. When I first heard the album I was a bit bored with it, but later on it became better and better... just like

ToT (Dream Theater) which I am listening now daily. In the beginning I thought: hmm, ok a nice collection of metal riffs.. so what? But the album is starting to grow at me and I think ToT even ranks 3rd now (IaW = 1, Awake = 2). Let's see what my opinion is in a couple of months.

Also a good release was, imho: Iron Maiden - Dance of Death. As far as I'm concerned this is one of the best Maiden albums of the last few years.

Here's a few things to get this forum going ;).

PS: I am expecting "Cold light of Monday" of Wolverine in the mail any day now. Wolverine are a bunch of cool guys from Sweden. I digged their music already since their first demo. Their debute "The Window Purpose" is a very cool album with a concept. Their second album (Cold light of Monday) already got great reviews at DPRP: http://www.dprp.vuurwerk.nl/reviews/200354.html
