NEVERMORE
Enemies Of Reality
Century Media

Ever evolving, Nevermore adds some new twists to their sound on their latest release "Enemies Of Reality", while still retaining their signature darkness. This summertime release for late July will cast dark clouds with heavy as 100% humidity resulting in a thunderstorm of metallic evil.

From the lead title track, it is immediately apparent that Nevermore is not playing it safe with "Enemies Of Reality". Instead of taking the safe route and just rehashing "Dead Heart In A Dead World", Dane, Loomis, Sheppard and WIlliams have chosen a path uncharted. "Ambivalent" possesses some fantastic heavy guitar work from Jeff Loomis. "Never Purify" continues along this extremely heavy dark path. "Tomorrow Turned Into Yesterday" ever so slightly nods to fellow Seattle band Metal Church and "Watch The Children Pray". It is a slower, moody track that would probably be the closest song to a metal radio single on the entire disc. "Noumenon" is as disturbing a track as the band has ever recorded...one listen and you will feel the cold shiver slice through your spine. Closing track "Seed Awakening" is a fast-paced/off-speed, heavy as hell song that shows that heaviness and melody can work together when blended correctly. The weird breaks in the track will have you puzzled, yet satisfied.

Warrel Dane sounds as sinister as ever and the music sounds similar to nobody. While some may still long for the days of his piercing screams, Dane's mid-range vocals breathe despair into each track and tell a much harsher tale.

"Enemies Of Reality" clocks in a little over 40 minutes in length for 9 tracks. The overall quality of material on the disc is not sacrificed in the name of extending the grooves on the CD and the time to over an hour. Plagiarism of "Enemies Of Reality" will be blatantly obvious as Nevermore has crafted an extension to the heavy metal highway that many will tread and most will crash upon.
