Great songs ruined

Listening to the Best of Warrant at the moment, and I'm reminded of the first time I heard "Heaven". Great song at the beginning, until this absolute dud of a line (in bold) :

Yeah, that's what I thought. So what song seemed great to you until a dud bit of lyrics ruined it for you?

Best Of Warrant is awesome!!! Is that one you're listening to the one with them standing next to a pool table on the front? That's great! I love the cover of We Will Rock You too!

And Heaven is a great song! But I agree that line ruins it. It has ALWAYS confused me because the song appears to be about a lover but then that line makes it sound like his singing about a daughter or something haha.

Dio has some absolute shockers in the lyric deparment, he still rocks but.

Theres one maiden line i cannot keep a straight face to.

"The albatross begins with it's vengence"

I just get this image of a big white bird mascot beating the shit of someone with a stick, go allbatross go.

It's great! In some ways I like it better than the original, because for some reason the piano part in the original doesn't really do it for me. But the middle section of the album version where it goes all heavy in the "I've been hurt and I've been blind, and I'm not sure that I'll be fine, I never thought it would end this way" part and kicks into the guitar solo is killer

Okay, so it was never a great song, but it belongs on this list because it was one of ten that ruined a whole album.

I gotta agree with Sydo. Maiden have screwed up some potentially classic songs with bad lyrics, and a poor delivery. I still like 'Alexander The Great', but it could have been better. The same goes for '7th Son of a 7th Son'....that song really could have been a classic and one of the best on the album, but no, Steve ruined it with that god awful chorus....and the same goes with 'Blood Brothers' and 'The Mercenery'.
I also really love 'To Lame a Land', but I think the lyrics could have been done better and the song would have been remembered a little more.

I can remember there being a few shockers on Megadeth's CTE album as well, but I can't think of them at the moment...

I agree. I love that song, but the verses could be much better. The lyrics aren't exactly great, and I think the delivery of them doesn't really fit some of the time. However that last verse where he is singing "The time, has come, for him..." is AWESOME!

The intro of 'To Tame A Land' is one of the best intros to a song I have ever heard, very dark sounding for Maiden, and it works so well. Yeah, that last verse is awesome too. So much potential in that song....but I still love it.

It sure is great

The intro of it reminds me HEAPS of the movie "The Eagle Has Landed" for some reason. I think it reminds me of the music in the start of that film. That was one of my fave movies when I was little haha. Havent seen it for years though
