See You In Hell
Fear No Evil
Rock You To Hell

These Are Their Only Albums So Far, All Of The Worth Checking

"See You in Hell" has some killer tunes like the title track and "Dead on Arrival" just to name a couple, but the production is pretty poor and despite Steve Grimmett's unreal vocals, it sounds a bit dated. : /

Well I've seen tons of bands with good tunes but the vids kill em. Point of View by Fates Warning doesnt help their image for example.
I'm thinking of doing my own little cover of See You In Hell. The song jams!

Yeah, "Point of View" video is pretty lame, but if you exclude Rush, Fates, despite being overshadowed by Dream Theater is THE quintessential prog-metal band. They pretty much started prog-metal if you don't consider Rush "metal."

I think I still have Rock You To Hell on vinyl somewhere. I used to listen to that one song by them over and over with the dad talking to his son...

"Michael?"

"Yes Daddy?"

"It's eight thirty, boy, time you're in bed."

Can't remember what that one was called nor all of the chatting. Guess this post was all for naught.

I'm not really into prog metal much. Metal is about agression, not looking pretty and being complex and eloquent. Tho Symphony X, and Evergrey kick ass.
Don't overlook some metal bands because they are labeled "prog" though. Some bands don't really fit into a genre and "prog" is an easy sub-gebre to stuff them into if they aren't thrash, death, doom, etc. etc. I have really been pushing Pagans Mind in the UM MB board but few people take notice when I say they are a "prog" band from Norway.
The truth is, they have prog influences, but influences from death metal, oldschool metal etc. etc. The band is very aggressive, but the prog influence they have makes them write some longer songs with more complexed chord progressions and cool vocal harmonies etc. In fact, one of the main reasons I do like a lot of prog (certainly far from all of iot) are the vocal harmonies. I love that shit. Anyway....the prog influences are very strong in Pagans Mind, but they still kick you in the neck with their power. Pagans Mind "Celestial Entrance" is one of the best CDs I have ever purchased.
