My friends are all avid listeners of what they call grindcore, now im not asking what that is, but the bands they listen to, should i consider it grindcore? They listen to "The number twelve looks like you" "Daugthers" and bands along those lines. Now when i think grindcore i think of the classic Napalm Death stuff, and Repulsion and that kind of sound, so im asking are those bands grindcore or something else entirely?

Your friends are obviously a bunch of emo retards who know absolutely nothing about grindcore.
exactly... they're a bunch of Metalcore/Emo fags who want to claim that Grindcore is still a punk subgenres(yes I know thats where the roots lie)... the bands you mentioned are no more grind than Dillinger Escape Plan is...

"the number 12 looks like you" are kinda spazzy metalcore type stuff, not grindcore

Good grind...

Nasum
Pig Destroyer
Agoraphobic Nosebleed
Napalm Death
Dying Fetus (bit more deathy though, but bits of grind imo)
Carcass

Grindcore is stuff like early Napalm Death, early Carcass, Repulsion, Pig Destroyer, etc. Technical metalcore liken Ion Dissonance and Psyopus isn't grindcore, though I have seen it referred to as such.

Uhhhhh...what? Grindcore is a mixture of Hardcore and Death Metal. I band can not be called GrindCORE unless they have some Punk influence.

And Metalcore/Emo fags? Since when are Metalcore "fags" the same as Emo "fags." Metalcore and Emo are two completely different genres of music.

Grindcore is not a subgenre of anything, in other words. It is its own genre.

...Just like Metalcore is not a subgenre of anything.

:err:

I don't claim to know everything about grind, but some of you people have no fucking clue whatsoever.
To keep it simple.....
Napalm Death - Scum = Quintessential grindcore album. Bands in that style: Ulcerrhoea, The Kill, Rot, Excruciating Terror, Captain Cleanoff
Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction = Quintessential death metal/goregrind album. Bands in that style: The County Medical Examiners, Splatterhouse, Embalming Theatre, Pathologist
Dead Infection - Chapter of Accidents & Surgical Disembowelment = Quintessential goregrind albums. Bands in that style: Regurgitate, Vaginal Carnage, Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition, Last Days of Humanity
Gut - Odour of Torture = Quintessential porngrind album. Bands in that style: Purulent Spermcanal, Gronibard, Creamface, Rompeprop, Cock and Ball Torture
Dying Fetus - Any album = Definitely not grind.

Then there's the more recent "techgrind" style being played by bands like Pig Destroyer, AgNb, Screaming Afterbirth, Alienation Mental etc.. which is like a combo of grindcore/goregrind and tech death metal (grindcore purists will argue it's not grind at all).....there's also "cybergrind" - Libido Airbag, SMES, Microphallus etc.. - which combines techno/drum and bass with gore/porngrind......

I might be completely wrong on those, so if someone wants to correct me, please do...I'm just trying to help define it for the uninitiated.

So, go on people, check those bands out>>

I would put Cock and Ball Torture and Last Days of Humanity both under goregrind. They play the same style of grind, but LSOH are a million times better than CBT. (at least the CBT on the Cocktales cd. I fucking hate that record.)
I agree that LDoH are heaps better than CBT, but I wouldn't say they're completely the same style of grind - CBT is a lot more groovy with minimal blast beats, whereas LDoH is way more full-on, has much less groove and lots of blasts. Also, as far as lyrics/themes go, CBT is all about dirty sex and bondage (which is mainly why I put them under "porngrind"), LDoH is more about gore/death.

CBT have no talent at all.

They're not goregrind, either.
