I was discussing grindcore with a friend today, and he said that grindcore is not a form of metal, but rather hardcore punk in it's most extreme form. What do you guy's think? Also, name some of your favorite grindcore bands. Here are some of mine:

Anal Cunt
Napalm Death
Carcass
Terrorizer
Godflesh

I think it depends on the band. Some are more influenced by metal, some more by punk. Some of the ones I like are: Leng Tch'e, Brutal Truth, Gore Beyond Necropsy, Carcass, Fuck... I'm Dead, Nasum, Cephalic Carnage, Terminally Your Aborted Ghost, Haemorrhage, Pig Destroyer, Squash Bowels, etc... That's all I could think of at the moment. I don't give a shit if if has a few underlying influences from other genre's either; close enough.

I like:

Nasum
Pig Destroyer
Agoraphobic Nosebleed
Rotten Sound

I think that's about all the Grindcore I like. I ain't a big fan of it, otherwise.

Counting goregrind, deathgrind, and the 489236977 other kinds of grind there are:

Agoraphobic Nosebleed
Alien Crucifixion
Carcass (Necroticism-era)
Cephalic Carnage
Discordance Axis
Disgorge (Hol)
Exhumed (older)
Fuck...I'm Dead
Gerbe Of Life
Malignancy
Mindflair
Paracoccidioidomicosisprostitissarcomucosis
Pig Destroyer
Purulent Spermcanal
Retch
Squash Bowels
Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition
Terrorizer
The Berzerker (to a certain extent)
And now I forget the rest.

Gore Beyond Necropsy
Total Fucking Destruction
Babygrinder
Squash Bowels
Captain Cleanoff
Birdflesh
Sanitys Dawn
Neuro-Visceral Exhumation
Cock & Ball Torture
Disgorge (Mex)
Last Days of Humanity
Gut
Retch
Lymphatic Phlegm
Intense Hammer Rage
Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition
Regurgitate
Sikfuk
Tu Carne
Cumgun
Dead Infection

I wouldn't say it was pure grindcore, no. I did state earlier that I don't like pure grindcore. It's a terrific album nontheless, and it's related to the grind genre, so I thought I'd recommend it.

I'll add Neuro-Visceral Exhumation, Lymphatic Phlegm, and Mexigorge, since I didn't realize they were grind.

Dead Infection is not good.

Did this turn into a "name your favourite GRIND bands" instead of "name your favourite grindCORE bands" thread? 'Cause if so, I didn't get to mention the 1038473465638563894738474 other bands that rule, from the other grind sub-genre's. =\

Best Polish grind = Squash Bowels, and I'm keeping it at that.

Dead Infection's production is horrible and adds nothing to the atmosphere. And it's slow and hardly even grind.

Yes, it did. Sorry.

Besides, grindcore is the same thing as grind, it's all in your head.

Pig Destroyer - Prowler In the Yard is my favorite grind cd ever......though I am not a grind fan. I also like:

Leng T'che - ManMadePredator
Nasum - Helvete, Human 2.0
Premonitions of War - Left to Kowloon

Add Decomposing Serenity to mine.

I need recommendations for different types of grind, also, so I think I'll keep this front-page.

Grindcore, goregrind, porngrind, death/grind, and such are all forms of grind, but are way different from eachother. I'm not imagining things, damn it!
