Im wondering about learning to growl, what does it take and involve guys?

it doesn't really take much but not breaking into a coughing fit to be a good growling vocalist IMO, 'cos it's not like you can be out of key. but people here will say you suck anyway because it's the way to be.

...and some of those people... I'm not saying any names (Darkness Eternal) don't even know the first thing about metal.

yea well most people can't do it 'cos it causes physical pain. much growling can rip away the flesh in your esophagus. once you get past the pain I don't think you can do too bad as long as you're not screeching like Dani Filth. If you can growl with base and be understood, IMO you're doing pretty alright. Of course one could always get better but I don't think that once you meet my criteria you can really be BAD at growling. There aren't much dynamics to it like with clean vox

There are all different types of growls and screams and stuff, so i'd argue that dynamics do exist allbeit less than in singing.

ps Its not actually meant to hurt. But you can do it that way if you like
