Grunge

As is obvious, some genres most well known bands aren't the best.

So what are the best grunge bands out there?

I only know Alice in Chains and Nirvana.

All these bands do have similularites and at the sametime have their own identity which is what I noticed about the genre. I've never heard Mudhoney.

Soundgarden - Superunknown is the only grunge I own besides AiC - Dirt (arguable) and Nirvana - Incesticide (crap). Good album, but it's fucking depressing. Obviously. But really, big downer.

Glam is really bad, most grunge is too though but alteast old Soundgarden is good (atleast for nostalgic factor).

Soundgarden's Superunknown (and maybe Badmotorfinger) and AiC's Dirt and Facelift are basically the only essential grunge albums.

Early Nirvana is alright. Melvins was always better tbh

Collective Soul is really good. I'm also a fan of Pearl Jam. Not sure if CS is actually grunge though

ugh, grunge is great, legitimate music, whereas glam is soulless corporate masturbation.

Not necessarily grunge but an influence on its sound, I reccomend Flipper. Frickin' sweet band.
