guitar sound problem

Hi,

I am new to the world of recording and I've noticed that when tracking guitars there can be a tendency to get this metallic sound over the top of notes - particlarly when palm muting chords. I do like the effect but once you add layers it gets a little over the top.

So the question is, how can I reduce this but minimize the impact on the overall brightness of the tone?

I've uploaded a small sample and a complete track (using amplitube metal) to demonstrate.

Have you tried any others amp sim? Amplitube metal never sounded any good to me no matter how much I tweeked it.

For example both nick crow 8505 http://sites.google.com/site/nickcrowlab/ and
Lepou soloC http://lepouplugins.blogspot.com/ are very good free amp sims.
Use any impulse response after (can be found anywhere on this forum).
