yeah since we all know the bass tone is really important to the guitar tone I think the freedom of being able to process it ourselves would be nice. But will it be programmed or real? Cause I really wouldn't know how to mix programmed bass, never done it before

User processed. As we all know a huge part of your guitar tones is really bass. Not to mention a preprocessed untouchable bass track really limits your ability to create guitar tones that will still mesh with the bass.

This is terrible logic. Who's going to supply you with a pre-processed bass track if you're mixing an album? You're going to get an unprocessed bass DI unless the engineer really, really fucked something up.
