Guitar Widening

...So i kinda want to buy this and try running one side of guitars, or a bus through it then record the output.

Didn't Randy Staub say in an interview a long time ago that when these SRS labs first came out with this stuff he was using it to push the guitars further out to the side?

I used it a few times but then I heard a song i mixed with it on the radio with almost no guitars at all. So..

i might try both. shredspread is 100 tho while that hardware srs thing is like 70

I just want something that works.

I generally don't give a shit about mono compatibility so it's never been an issue for me, but I also only subtly widen if I do at all.

Shred_Spread is also usable on multiple sources at once and doesn't require leaving the digital world. I can't imagine the conversion on that little box is that great.

Changing something between the left and right guitars makes them wide.
The ear>brain hears the same thing left and right as mono coming from the centre. Use a different amp or guitar or even mic a different cone on the cab.
If I want to use an identical rig left and right I put different URS saturation plugin settings each side.
I hate stereo wideners. I also don't care about mono compatibility. I just hate what they do to the sound.
