I've got an ibanez S520 and it has a great tone for a not so phat guitar...about that epiphone bashing, those gibson goths are worth the same as an epiphone goth, believe me (even though all the goth series seem too "all looks" to me)...a friend of mine has got a Gibson Les Paul Gothic and another one has an epiphone goth explorer and both sound almost the same.

(mine's a black one)

A good buy nowadays are those LTD guitars by Epiphone. some of them are not that expensive and have a nice and phat body and sometimes also nice pick-ups...

Also, for a low budget, a friend of mine bought one of these for around 390 € and it has a great body and sound (pity the looks are somehow..hmm..weird...). Great buy though.

After trying more guitars today and doing a lot of thinking I have come to the conclusion that the Ibanez SA160 is the best guitar for my budget, and I've just ordered one for £225 (approx €323 / $382). I considered the maple top version, but ended up going for the plain black one which was the cheapest.
