Slash reveals all about 'Chinese Democracy'
Guns N' Roses' long awaited album 'Chinese Democracy' is finally set to be released in March, according to former guitarist Slash.

The news comes just weeks after reclusive singer Axl Rose revealed that the band's first material in 10 years was nearing completion.

Speaking about the release on Christian O'Connell's Virgin breakfast show, Slash confirmed that the record is done and he said a "very official source" had already heard it.

He added: "Yeah its going to happen, I've been made aware it's been heard.

"I'm really excited, it's been a long time waiting to see what the next step around the corner was going to be for him (Axl), we know where everybody else is, but we were wondering what he was going to be doing. It's coming out in March and apparently it sounds great."

Tracks slated to appear on the 13-track album include 'Better', 'There Was A Time' and 'The Blues'.

Although Axl and Slash have not spoken in the last 10 years, the velvet revolver guitarist said he was pleased that the record is finally going to see the light of day.

He added: "I've always been supportive over that thing, even though it's been turned in to a big controversial blah blah blah thing.

"When I left I was pretty pissed off for having to leave in the first place. After a while all the boo-haha that was stirred and all the negative press, sort of went in his direction, so I'm just waiting for the record to come out, so I'm glad where it's got to the point that that's happening."

Axl Rose Breaks His Silence

Gn'R mastermind talks "Democracy" at L.A. party "People will hear music this year," says Axl Rose, puffing on a cigar in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
The notoriously reclusive rocker is of course referring to Guns n' Roses' decade-in-the-making Chinese Democracy, arguably the most anticipated album in rock & roll history. "It's a very complex record," says Rose, a surprise guest at Korn's tour announcement bash. (Others in the house: Jessica Alba, cast members of The OC, and members of Linkin Park, Good Charlotte and the Used.) "I'm trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like Queen. Some people are going to say, 'It doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like Guns n' Roses.'" He then smiles and adds, "But you'll like at least a few songs on there."

Dressed in a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, cross hanging around his neck, cornrows still intact and sporting a blonde goatee, Rose strolled into the party around 1 a.m., just as the DJ was coincidentally rocking some vintage Gn'R. Approached by a steady stream of women and hard-rock disciples -- including Puddle of Mudd's Wes Scantlin and Papa Roach's Dave Buckner -- Rose is cordial and chatty as he poses for photo after photo. He seems more like an average guy out for a night with friends than the most mythical rock star on the planet in 2006.

And he maintains that that's exactly what he is. "The only time people ever write about me is when I go out to a strip club, because I don't chase the paparazzi down," he says. And, when he's out of the spotlight, Rose says you'll find him doing average-guy stuff: reading books and watching movies. His favorite book is Philip K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly. "I was a little scared when I saw they were making it into a movie starring Keanu [Reeves]," he says. "But I guess if he can handle The Matrix, he can do this."

While Rose and his revolving cast of Gn'R bandmates have been working on Chinese Democracy, Papa Roach have achieved platinum status in their own right. But tonight, their drummer reverts to his teenage fan days, asking Rose for a picture and to guest on Papa Roach's next album. Rose strikes a pose and then graciously refers the fellow rocker to his management.

After all, before he lends his talents to others' projects, Rose has one of his own to finish, and he says it's getting there. "We're working on thirty-two songs, and twenty-six are nearly done," he says. Of those, thirteen are slated for the final album. Among Rose's favorites are "Better," "There Was a Time" and "The Blues."

As for a reunion with his former Gn'R mates, that seems unlikely. "I haven't spoken to Slash in ten years," Rose says. "I love the guy, I always wanted everyone to know how great he was, but.... I was just talking to Izzy the other day though."

However, he hints that you could see the current incarnation of Gn'R back out on the road soon. "Every time there's a big festival announced, we get rumored to be on there," he says. "But we'll see what happens."

One thing's for sure: Everyone will be watching.

Guns N' Roses 'songs leak'

Tracks set for 'Chinese Democracy' hit the internet
Tracks set for Guns n' Roses long-awaited new album 'Chinese Democracy' have leaked.

Four tracks from the LP, which has been in the works for over a decade, have started to appear on the internet.

The leaked songs are 'T.W.A.T. (There Was A Time)', 'The Blues', 'I.R.S.' and 'Better'.

Featuring singer Axl Rose's trademark vocals, the new material reveals the group embracing drum loops alongside heavy rock guitars and a rawer, more bluesy sound.

Though a release date for the album is yet to be confirmed, 'Chinese Democracy' marks the first original new LP from the band since 1991's 'Use Your Illusion I' and 'Use Your Illusion II'.

Guns n' Roses are expected to premiere more new material when they headline this summer's Download festival, alongside Metallica.

GUNS N' ROSES BASEBALL SHOCKER!

The song is thought to be from the group's long-delayed 'Chinese Democracy' album...
Confusion surrounds a new GUNS N' ROSES
track, supposedly played on the radio by accident... by an American Baseball player.

The track, thought to be the first offering from long-threatened new Guns n' Roses
album 'Chinese Democracy', was inadvertently played on New York Q104.3's 'Friday Night Rocks With Eddie Trunk'. New York MetsCatcher Mike Piazza, a guest on the show, persuaded Trunk to play a CD marked 'Guns'n'Roses, 'IRS'' last Friday (29 August).

Described by callers as 'combining rock and techno', the track is said to distinctly feature G N'R frontman Axl Rose and guitarist Buckethead.

The track's authenticity was cemented by calls from the band's management, who demanded that the track was retrieved. Station Program Director Bob Buchman told MTV, "We've gotten hundreds, dare I say thousands of emails since, urging us to play it again, but we can't because the management flipped when they heard it on air."

Only one track, 'Madagascar' - previewed at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards - had previously been heard from 'Chinese Democracy', although they have played the odd new song live.

While management did not take any legal action, Buchmann vouched for the credibility of a new Guns n' Roses track ending up in the custody of the sportsman. "Mike is a huge music fan. The truth is, Mike is so passionate about certain music that I would argue that he's in the top ten list of real music fans that a band might circulate unreleased stuff to. Piazza's a riot. He's as passionate as they come."

There is still no news of a release date for the long-awaited 'Chinese Democracy'.

You can't find any redeeming features of 'Guns' at all then?
I think they are decent. If I listen to the radio and they are on I wont switch the channel. Not that I listen to radio that much but you get the point.

But I have never liked Axl.

Appetite for Destruction is a phenomenal rock album. That is also pretty much the only truly good thing they have done. The Use Your Illusion albums only contained enough good songs for one album but were padded with filler to make it two. And honestly I don't see how anyone could expect the new album to be anything other than terrible. I probably won't even bother listening to it. Guns 'N' Roses died ages ago.

I don't think most people like Axl to be fair. From all reprots he's a total knob end.

It's true, they never bettered 'Appetite', Probably because on the one hand they simply weren't capable of it and secondly they'd created an album that basically defiend them as a band, first time round. Put it this way, once you've heard Appetite you don't need to (or in some cases don't want to) hear any thing else by them. You glean precious little extra insight from listening to anything after Appetite.

I'm going to have to give the new album a whirl though.
