HAIL SATAN!

Slough Feg - celtic metal? i didnt notice anything celtic about them at the Heathen Crusade

aside from their name, their first two albums were all about sesair dogs and tir na nog, they've been departing from that style steadily since. they used to go on stage in celtic warpaint, though.

I prefer to hail Abraxas, myself.

!

What's that from? The keyboardist in my band wrote a classical piece called abraxas.

I think it was abraxas, anyway. It might have been something close to that.

true i've been listening to viking metal for about an hour now and feel like going to valhalla...where as an hour ago i wanted to go on a quest (Rhapsody)

please tell me that when you mean viking metal you don't mean Amon Amarth. Theres nothing wrong with AA per se, but for the most part whenever someone mentiones viking metal theres always that one person who's like OMGZ I LUV TEH VIKINGS I LIKE TEH AMONAMARTHLOLZ

No i was listening to Ensiferum and Moonsorrow

....and Pursuit Of Vikings....:erk:

why would you axe me? theres nothing wrong with ensiferum and amon amarth...although one of the kids who likes mainstream rap told me to put some aa on his mp3 for him....but that doesnt make them bad just makes the fans bad.

cruachen, slough feg, suidakra, tuatha denanana, morrigan

i think someone mentioned to me absu was, too

At least the first Crucahan album anyway. The second one is decent, and the last two totally blow.

Not celtic metal per se, but arguably one of the better bands with a celtic quality in their music: Primordial

the celtic flair is much more noticable on the earliest albums like Imrama and A Journey's End, and less so than the latest album (although it's still very very good) of course. (You know this of course, I'm just narrating for the lesser-educated people that may read this)

Abraxas is a gnostic deity that encapsulates the forces of both good and evil, creation and destruction, et cetera. A God which encompasses a doctrine of non-duality that blends opposing ideas which many theological systems blend into contrasting and opposing standpoints.

And by God, I'm not sure if that's the proper term, because I believe that Abraxas is supposed to be a hermaphodite, but I could be wrong.
