Hard rock

Have you ever read RATM lyrics? They're awesome.

Picking at random here:

Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Over and over.
Killing in the name of!
And now you do what they told ya
Over and over
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Over and over
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Over and ovr

How revolutionary of them

Something about silence makes me sick
'Cause silence can be violent
Sorta like a slit wrist

Uh-huh.

Yeah I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun
These people ain't seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one

Ooooh. Pointing out racism.

Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, check it out, yo, yo, yo

Quite.

I be walkin' god like a dog
My narrative fearless
My word war returns to burn
Like Baldwin home from Paris
Like Steel from a furnace
I was born landless
This is tha native son
Born of Zapata's guns
Stroll through tha shanties
And tha cities remains
Same bodies buried hungry
But with different last names
These vultures rob everything
Leave nothing but chains
Pick a point on tha globe
Yes tha pictures tha same
There's a bank There's a church a myth and a hearse
A mall and a loan a child dead at birth
There's a widow pig parrot
A rebel to tame
A whitehooded judge
A syringe and a vein

Fuck knows.

Do you think the time is right for a palace revolution
Where I live the game to play is compromise solution
Well then what can a poor boy
'Cept for sing for a rock 'n' roll band
'Cause in this sleepy L.A. town
There's just no place for a street fighting man

A street fighting man
A street fighting man
A street fighting man

...

It had to be flashin' like the daily double
It had to be playin' on TV
It had to be loud mouthed on the comedy hour
It had to be announced over loud speakers

The CIA and the Mafia are in cahoots

CONSPIRACY THEORIES FTMFW.

Hey yo!
Let me be front
This is real and not a stunt
I'm comin' to the forefront
Shovel for the rapper and clear the lane
'Cos this jam is like a tomahawk chop
Teach ya I'll never stop droppin' topics
Vocal power?
(a)yes I got it
On central but their trying to clamp it down

This is a crime that shut us up
I don't give a fuck
'Cos the words and the thoughts still hit
And like I said
It's not a skit
Jump another hit
Yeah
Ya know I don't need a drum kit
Make 'em say awwww shit!
The rebellion is true and legit

Why we always hatin' huh?

Fuck tha police,
Comin straight from the underground.
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown,
And not the other color so police think,
They have the authority to kill a minority.

And we're back to apparent inherit racism.

He doesn't really get any praise at all. So I don't see how he is overrated.

The lyrics to Killing In the Name are great. Any band worth its salt has to have a "fuck everybody" song. It's how I know who to fuck.

I'm pretty sure Hypocrisy had one on Virus. :D

I was thinking more that they're fun and catchy, rather than serious. I mean when it comes stirring controversy, stuff that's catchy always makes the biggest impact, which is clearly what they wanted. It doesn't necessarily mean their political statements are accurate, but they have ideas that attract people.

Pretty obvious why he doesnt get any praise :D

He gets quite a bit of praise actually, some people think it's more than he deserves. Personally I think he's awesome considering how long he's been playing the guitar, and how quickly he was able to become as good as he is.

So...getting off of Rage, who I do like, but I don't really feel deserve defending...

Personally, I'm more of a rock guy. Some of my favorite (what I consider) rock bands: Clutch, Powderfinger, Oasis, Muse, Soundgarden, Audioslave (here comes more Morello-hate), The Cult, Four Star Mary, Live, The Tragically Hip, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Bad Company, Blur, The Frames, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Queens of the Stone Age, Rainbow, Steve Miller Band, The Who.

I will now sit and wait for each of these bands to be classified as something other than "hard rock".

Hey DUDE ! They aint all "hardrock"........ :heh:

hardrock died when Bonzo died :erk:

OK I read the first page... lol I dont really keep up with the latest music. But of a few bands I can think of over the years that did kick back to more traditional hardrock were The Black Crows but that was late 80's. Buckcherry is pretty good from the few songs I heard, they have two guitar players that dont actually play the same thing and you cant do a bar gig without playin "Crazy Bitch", I was surprised but the girls really get into that song, they sing along, shake that thang.... go figure
Clutch is pretty damn good

everything is so fused today its hard to classify music really

those "pop metal" bands from the 80's everyone is trying to call hardrock today ? forget about it, they were pop metal bands/commercial metal or just plain metal, even if they used some more traditional rock progressions in some songs they were still metal, they used the palm mute power pedals, metal lead guitar antics some albums even had an actually "heavy metal" song from time to time. They were very much part of the "Metal" scene, in fact most of those guitarists wrote the book on metal guitar playing... same goes for many of the drummers... sorry but you cant rewrite history. The 80's was METAL!

Hey DUDE ! They aint all "hardrock"........ :heh:

Clutch is pretty damn good.

I know, I was being a slight douche.

Just saw Clutch last month, man do I love that band. Never thought I would love the same pentatonic scale so much.

I hate this band so much...so boring and their singer is terrible. Tbh though, I think I'd actually find them decent if it wasn't for him...

Haha. Yeah, I had the same thought when I first heard them. I dunno, it grew on me. Can't say as though it's for everybody, him having a goat-vibrato and all.

I like hard rock/stoner rock. Nice when I occasionally want to blast something that hits home instantly with rawk power.

Though these are more stoner rock-ish. Which is essentially the same thing, but whatever.
