Has anyone..

I remember a guy here who auditioned for a band (bloodbath?) He was top notch, but his originals sucked.

Cancer of the Soul tried out for Cradle of Filth.

I had a pre-audition for Reverend several years ago with their drummer when they were going to kick some members out but they ended up not doing it. I was invited to audition for Heir Apparent as a 2nd guitarist a few years ago but declined (great band but I personally didn't feel that I fit style-wise). I was also invited to audtion for Heteradox (new band of the bassist from ex-Reverend/Byfist) not too long ago but politely declined to focus on my own band.

the guys from Byfist wanted to start something with me and my guitarist a couple years ago. we agreed at the time, because we were 19 and drunk, but later we realized that they were all 65 and it would be lame.

my guitar insructor for many years was the guitarist from S.A. Slayer.

my old boss was in a band in the 80s whose big claim to fame was touring with Poison and having Sam Kinison in their home video.

my older old boss was the road manager of both LA Guns and WASP at some point in the late 80s/early 90s.

i once got drunk with Peter from Vader and once i did coke with the bass player of Flotsam & Jetsam. his coke, too, it was sweeeet.

...

that's about the best famous people stuff i've got.

I haven't, but my friend David applied and auditioned for Slayer when Paul Bostaph left the band and Dave Lombardo was still in as a "special guest" drummer. He even got so far as to jam on about 6 songs with Kerry and Tom in San Francisco.

Then, the band decided to have Dave Lombardo back full-time and the rest is history. David wasn't disappointed, either. :kickass:

Lee Dorian once poked me in the eye.

No, really.

The rumour at work was that I used to be a hotshot guitarist for an underground band that toured extensively. This IS a lie, perpetuated by our old drummer who also works for my organisation. The TRUTH is that I was a terrible guitarist and vocalist in a band that should have been killed before ever playing.
