I would imagine that you did indeed get a bad bottle. Must have been oxidized or had light damage from hanging around for far too long on the shelves in inapproproate conditions.

haha, no, I wasn't actually drinking it from the bottle. That would be fun though, busting out an ice-filled cooler packed with Rochefort 10s at the weekend softball league.
Though I did just have it in a normal pint glass, not the Rochefort(tm) Specially Approved Goblet. Maybe that was the problem.

Unfortunately, I finally have a reason to post in this thread. I had never poured out a beer before, but I poured out a bottle of this tonight:

I picked out a variety of single bottles of import brews at the Liquor Store as usual and I got a bottle of this, not actually knowing exactly what it was going to be, but I thought it was a decent risk considering it was a German brew and the bottle looked badass, etc...
It tasted like smoked bacon, or like those "Hickory Sticks" you'd find in the chips section of the grocery store, which are fine on their own, but not what I want in a beer. Apparently, this stuff is very popular worldwide, but I don't think I could develop a taste for it. = Waste.

yeah i've never tried that IPA. the oatmeal stout is fucking AWESOME but you'll barf and shit if you drink more than three of them. apparently the seasonal white beer is ridiculously great.

Dave, you faggot, I think I posted about this a couple weeks ago. I thought it was... very interesting. I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not until after I drank the whole thing. I ended up coming to the conclusion that it was pretty damn cool. My dad fucking HATED it, on the other hand.
Definitely one of the most "different" beers I've ever tried.

but uhh a few i've liked enough to keep the bottles on a shelf in this room:
- Wychwood's Hobgoblin
- Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout
- Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer
- Fuller's 2006 Vintage Ale
- Guinness is good shit when its from the tap in Ireland
and ive only tried most of the good beers i've tried once
