Having problem with the bass tone

HI,

Yesterday I was recording the bass for a track...

I used M Audio Profire 2626 as the interface & a Yamaha RBX 370 bass guitar. I plugged the bass directly into the interface. For the tone I used Amplitube Ampeg SVX vst. I am not satisfied with the tone....a clicking sound appeared which could not be canceled with eq ( extreme eqing affected the presence of the tone)
