Right now im not using ozone for mastering, but mainly for its tools to make the mix sound its best before mastering it.

I have two overhead tracks that were recorded a bit quiet, and our drummer preferred more of the close mic of the snare than what snare was recorded through the OH mics. So I applied ozone as an insert on the tracks. Did a bit of EQing to get rid of most of the snare, and some work in the loudness maximizer to bring up the level a bit.

Sounds perfect when being played back.

The goal is to have the mixdown track (louder, less snare) take the place of the original recording, and not needing instances of ozone running. Gotta save up memory for all the vst instruments going on.

But, the mixdown file ends up quieter than the original, and doesnt even resemble the original track. Like having the same basic waveforms but taller.

Sorry for the longish post, but I figured the better you understand what im doing, the easier it is to tell me what the right thing is to do.

Im sure its going to be something simple too. lol

Thanks for the help.
