But anyway, I was thinking about my Catholic/conservative stances and I have come to this conclusion:
I arguably have more to dislike about America than I do to like.
(before the shitstorm starts, let me say that I love this country and despite its many shortcomings I still find it the beacon of hope for humanity.)
Think about it:
Back in the early 1900s, the government spent about 5% of the GDP total. Now that's our deficit.
4000 babies are being killed every day by abortion.
Affirmative action is bringing back the racism and preferential treatment so many have fought so hard to eliminate.
The liberals have a veritable monopoly on the media and education. I daresay if I hadn't read Rush Limbaugh's 'See, I Told You So' I would be like the girl I saw today with a portrait of George Bush with 'Warmonger' written on it.
According to the Index of Economic Freedom - published by the Heritage Foundation (hardly a liberal group) - America's economic freedom is stagnating and runs the risk of receding. Currently we're tied with Switzerland for 12th place as far as free markets go.
The media are marketing obscenity and violence to children. I don't mind adults consuming such things, but they're not the target audience.
Tax-funded art museums are displaying crucifixes in jars of urine and portraits of the Virgin Mary covered with buffalo shit and porn.
Hollywood threw shitstorms about The Passion but praised Fahrenheit 9/11.
I could go on, but I figure you guys get where I'm coming from.
Discuss.
