Head and Cab shootout (Lasse Mago DIs)

Because the DIs and track are so great I decided to run every combination of Head and Cab I have through them.
TS808 in front. Single 57 through API A2D.
I used pink noise to find as close as possible to the same spot on each cab
and normalized all the files before bouncing. If any of them sound louder it's because of frequency content.
No post processing apart from a bit of multi band comp to tame rumble.
Obviously the different heads/cabs would require different EQs in the mix.
If you want to import the files to AB in a DAW they should all line up ok.
I could upload just the guitar tracks if anybody wants raw files.

Jeeze I never thought a cab would make as much a difference as it did in those clips.

I liked the Recto, then the Orange, then the Marshall as far as cabs go. I couldn't get into anything that the Marshall (the V30s almost sounded like T75s in comparison to the others) put out but at the same time I loved everything the Recto did; except the DSL. The Orange had a few good ones like the 6505 and Triple Recto.

The Recto cab just has more balls than the others, I like the mid range it puts out. Makes me happy to know I have a Recto cab.

Cool test, huge difference between all combinations. In this test I like the Orange cab the most (on all amps), then the Mesa, then the Marshall. The 6505 is my favourite amp in this test. But maybe tommorow it's a little different because my ears just suffered a bit too much from playing with my own amp.

Interesting to see all cabs getting liked. I too love the 6505 Marshall track.

I can't pay attention to the clips... I'm too distracted due to the fact that I'm freaking out over that picture you posed -- that top rack looks like it's about to snap and drop your Mesa! yikes! lol

Ha ha. The front of the shelf is curved so it looks like it's sagging due to the angle of the photo. It's completely level and safe.
