Well I gave this one a lot of thought and they seem like the cans of choice, a buddy of mine (who is also my boss) swears by the DT-770s as the holy grail of FOH headphones. Plus they're a fair bit cheper than the Senns, and also appear to be sturdier.

Should I go open back (990)or semi-closed (880)...these will be my primary mixing tools since I don't have a pair of monitors and it doesn't seem likely I will be getting a pair anytime soon (I only track myself these days anyways).

I got the 990 a few days ago and they're amazing (directly compared to AKG K-301 and K-271 mkII, also compared to K-240)..
Don't know about the 880's but they're "a little bit" more expensive :D

...and they have the best freq.response i have seen ...pretty flat for HP!

I got the DT 770, I have had them for 6 or 7 years now, just letting you know they last a long time with no problems what so ever
Tho I have a different model, they are great sounding headphones IMO

I think I'm gonna go for the 880's, perhaps being semi-open they'll have some more bass than open headphones, thanks for all your help guys. I will report results :)
