The only good real-life application I can think of for a tablet computer (further still, an "iSlate") would be something like Dr. McKay's tablet he uses around Atlantis all the time.

Open locked doors, control puddle-jumpers remotely, run blood and DNA tests, play a wicked game of pong....

I can't decide whether it was a mistake or not to not do an official unveiling at CES.

On one hand there were apparently tonnes of tablet PCs, smartbooks and e-book readers there, so it would be smart to unveil your competitor then and there so direct comparisons can be drawn on the floor with working units.

On the other hand, by doing their official launch at a totally innocuous time where there aren't hundreds of competitors pushing their product and saturating everything they can count on focused attention being that the average consumer is dead weight and will pay attention to the newest set of blinking lights. This seems like a smarter (see: douchier) marketing decision.

Personally I think the market for tablets is being overestimated here, in my mind they exist as a solution for professionals in very specific fields. In general use they offer very little advantage over a laptop (increased portability at the cost of basically everything else) not to mention touch screen technology is a dreadful interface for general computer use (even if you're just a casual computer user, tapping a screen for any lengthy period of time is going to cause you pain and wear out the screen itself). Having said that, I'll never underestimate gullibility of status seeking twats in buying something they have no use for just because it's the thing to have. Look for an iSlate to replace the chihuahua in Paris Hilton's handbag.

It seems to be missing Kick15Z3.

Exactly!

Yeah I thought this was a SSD App too. But eh now that i'm here.

I'll check it out. I really do like macs quite a bit, but I like windows for some things too. I'm on the fence in terms of brand loyalty. Put it this way though, I HAVE a PC, can't afford a mac.
