Heathen - The Evolution of Chaos

Dying Season & Arrows of Agony are killer cuts from this release. I love No Stone Unturned but the length of the track bothers me - musically it all sounds fine but the instrumental part kind of kills the headbanging fun which is unfortunate because I would've played it at my club otherwise. Maybe I'll still play it when I need a toilet break and I'll get back in time thrash it up to the end of the track. Solid album all up and possibly my favourite Heathen release to date.

To me the magic is specially on the lenght, it shows the quality of musicianship of the band, overall since the song never gets boring.

No need to headbang anyway, I like my neck the way it is .

Heathen were always specialists on the longer songs... I think there are only two tracks under 6 minutes of Victims of Deception if I recall, one an instrumental and the other a cover! For me this album doesn't quite beat Victims, but it runs it pretty close...

There's no faulting the quality and Yeah Heathen have always written longs songs and its part of the reason I'm not a huge Heathen fan; I like my thrash a little more concise. However I am a man of contradictions and I do enjoy many long thrash songs (& obviously many Heathen songs) but I usually want them over by around the 7 minute mark.
As far as headbanging goes, I should have given it away by now but after a few brews and good tunes I can't help myself!:heh::kickass::headbang:

Depends on the song and thus the performer. Many bands just don't have what it takes for a long song or sometimes they just drop the ball.
Helloween works for me great with 'Keeper Of The Seven Keys' but not at all with 'Occasion Avenue'. Dream Theater worked great in 'Octavarium' but 'Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence' its a boredomfest (a 40 something min song...:zombie:). Iron Maiden works fabulous on 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' but came faulty on 'Alexander The Great' (which is shorter).

I don't drink and I'm older than you :loco:

Saw Heathen live yesterday and man, do they slay live !!!!!
It was well worth the 3 hour drive. Both the old and new stuff
sound great live !!!!
I expected to be one of the people travelling the biggest distance
but there were some guys that flew in from Spain just to see two
Heathen gigs in Holland. Talk about dedicated fans! Maybe Marco
knows them, forgot their names offcourse :-/ (one bald and one
guy with long curly hair)..

Picked this up last week......PHENOMENAL album.
I was not aware of this band in the 80s so I have no "ties" to them. They're new to me.....but this is simply a stunning thrash album!

It's definitely got hints of the Exodus guitar sound.....but the writing is unique. Epic, blazing, and never cheesy!

Rush out and grab this ASAP!
