HEADSTONE „Excalibur" - Cover, Tracklist, Release Date: 11th November 2016

The release date of the HEADSTONE album „Excalibur“ on CD is November 11st, 2016. The pre-order phase will start on October 28th, 2016 in our webshop.

The second album by HEADSTONE called "Excalibur" had many great songs, but sadly the band changed the vocalist. The new singer Harald Karg was "ok", but not outstanding. Songs like "Burnt in ice" or "White thunder" suffer a bit from this, but in other songs his voice fits quite well. So "Eagle in the crest" and "Well in love" are the highlights on this album regarding the vocals.

If you concentrate on the music you will find tons of really fantastic material. The title song or "Angel of paradise" show the outstanding musical ability of the band. In the year 1985 "Headstone" was not a big success because the distribution was poor and outside their hometown Oberammergau (a small bavarian town) not too many fans took notice of the band.

Finally this was the end of......no...in this special case it was not the end of the band. Since 1985 HEADSTONE are alive, playing together and writing new songs. Some of them are outstanding, but still the band didn't manage to record these songs in a final version. A demo CD with these -outstanding- songs exists, but only with some vocals from the guitarist, so really no fun to listen to, because he did this only to have them recorded. So this material is still waiting to be rerecorded with new vocals and rereleased.

UNICORN are well known to collectors because of their 1987 mini album.

The release date of the reissue of the album „Tricks Of A Trade“ by the Canadian Heavy Metal Band TOUCHDOWN on CD is June 30th, 2017. The pre-order phase will start on June 16th, 2017 in our webshop. The album will be released in a limited Edition of 500 copies (handnumbered), with certificate and hologram.

One year after "Don't look down" the follow up "Tricks of a trade" was released via Woolfe Records. In 1985 the international Heavy Metal scene went into more heavyness, so the early 80s sound of "Tricks of a trade" maybe was a bit too late to catch the interest from a big audience. The high pitched vocals by Bob Moody, who replaced the equally strong Terry Kushner, were typically US-style, but musically TOUCHDOWN clearly was influenced by the European scene.

If you listen to songs like "On the Run" or "Breakin Out" a touch of German or Scandinavian Metal is evident. Probably the best song on the album is "Pay the price" with a really great hook, but all in all the album is a fine example for well played Canadian melodic Metal with really outstanding vocals! Sadly "Tricks of a trade" was the last strike of the band. Luckily now you can listen to all the material the band made including rare bonus songs!

The release date of the reissue of the album „Don't Look Down“ by the Canadian Heavy Metal Band TOUCHDOWN on CD is June 30th, 2017. The pre-order phase will start on June 16th, 2017 in our webshop. We have to go back to the early 80s to find the roots of the canadian band TOUCHDOWN. In 1984 they released their debut album via Woolfe Records. To complete the line-up, Dave Temple, Perry Segal and Gary Hurley found a really good female vocalist, which was a rare stroke of luck.

Terry Kushner had a strong powerful voice and so the title song "Don't look down" and opener of the album normally would have been enough to convince everybody to buy the album. But if you have a look on the cover artwork it will be obvious that it could have been not clear for the people that TOUCHDOWN were into melodic Heavy Metal. So finally not too many people put it on their turntable.

The distribution worked more or less satisfying, but in the end sadly Canada was far from being the centre of the Metal world in that time. By listening to "Don't look down" today it is apparent that the band found a quite unique style and still is really worth an investigation today. The next album one year later sadly was the last release by the band. More information you will find in the booklet of "Tricks of a trade".

Iceland and Heavy Metal? Yes, actually there was some metallic life on this far away island in the North Sea. Vocalist Eirikur Haukkson, who released a rock album in 1981 and later on joined the Norwegian band ARTCH (under the pseudonym Eric Hawk), had a short appearance in Icelandic Rock history on DRYSILL’s album “Welcome to the show” in 1985. To this day this record is definitely one of the most expensive and sought-after Metal-albums. Why?

DRYSILL’s music is typical Scandinavian 80s Metal, which is upgraded by Eric’s powerful voice. “Left – right (The night of dreams)” is a good example for the whole album, which reminds one a little of the later PRETTY MAIDS. “We’re coming to rock you” is a very catchy song, like the title track. So “Welcome to the show” has a very good reputation and is still in demand. The only problem to get it was that only a few hundred copies were produced and today they are more or less impossible to find. Finally this great album is available via the Karthago Records Heavy Metal classics series, so the waiting has an end for many collectors.

After the CD release 2015 follows the album "Welcome To The Show” in a limited edition of 250 black copies with insert on vinyl.
