this is not a genre i work on very often, although i was actually in this band before they came back to me to mix this song they recorded.

mixed on my toft atb 32, outboard compressors and reverbs, about 90 percent of the mix was done analog. some touch ups and surgical eq done in the box. mastered with ozone. reamped with marshal jcm 900 + tube screamer and 6505. let me know you thoughts, input would help. thanks!

how is this at all pop punk? sounds more like metalcore/screamo to me

but anyway, its sounding good, but I'd bring the vox down a bit. and the drums and synth sound a bit buried at times.

This is definitely not pop punk... heavy, but not pop, nor punk. That aside, guitars are hugely lacking in mids, as is most of the mix, it sounds like the sub-bass and treble got a big boost while everything else got sucked out. Vocals are definitely too loud, too.

i dont really see how genres are important at this point. the bands other songs defiantly have pop punk roots, while they are also on the heavy side for sure. and if you want to talk genres, the term screamo originated as an insult in the 90s and i still believe it to be one. that aside, thanks for the tips i was for sure in a big rush to get this out, time restraints shouldn't be allowed. it was all mixed on a board and have since moved on to more favorable projects, but ill see if i can correct any of these errors in the master.
thanks again.
