Here's a quick song we've recorded in the studio to test the new gear we got a few days ago.

The mood is heavy rock, dirty sounding (a la Converge) song. The parts are impro so don't judge it too quickly ;)

The snare is too loud, and it pumps a little when I put the limiter on, but i'll EQ the guitars to make them less mediumish.

You can post what you think, any advices are welcome.

The guitars sound too...plastic-y? I dunno how to describe it, but they have some wierd mids going on, around the 600Hz-or-so area. They need to have a more scooped sound than you have there, but not *too* much. Just my opinion. :)

Well this is close to the guitar sound from the latest converge album, so I assume this is a choice... But the bass seems a bit lost in comparison... Not to mention the playing. Converge heaviness comes from the playing for the most part, their tone wouldn't work for many bands.

If thats so, then ew. Lol. The guitars don't sound very aggressive or anything compared to the *playing*. Gives it a crappy demo sound to the whole thing, like it was done at a friend's house, not professionally. But then again, thats just my preference. :)

great point! they are not a good reference cd for mixing, at least for me. they get away with the most obscure tones! ot: CONVERGE RULES!
