Heir Apparent--Thus Spake the Nightspirit

Okay...this might just be me. But every time I hear the speed picking part of Heir Apparent (that is, the heavy riff that comes right after the acoustic riff around 4:00, on you tube of course) I think of the main riff of Thus Spake the Nightspirit by Emperor. I think it's the way the keyboards come into the riff, and there's a definite similarity between the chords used. Anyone else?

YES!!! I agree with you 100% ... I knew it resembled a song from Anthems ... but I couldn't remember which one it was. That short, recurring keyboard-part sounds almost identical in my ears ...

That fast change from acoustic to a fast heavy part reminds me "Demon of the Fall" pretty much. Not melodically but in structure.

Same here, the first time I heard that riff I right away though Emperor... which is a good thing. I would love to see Opeth explore more BM parts.
