After hearing the song in the "better quality" I've got to say it still sucks pretty hardcore. The first time I heard Ghost of Perdition I was blown away, totally not blown away by this song. New guitarist solo might be BALLS OUT METAL but it doesn't fit Opeth's music. The only part of the song that has any good moments to me is the very beginning cuz it's like dark and stuff

If this song sucks pretty hardcore, i'm curious as to what you think is good. Or even average, since average would obviously be above "sucking hardcore." I don't expect everyone to like the song, that's impossible; but wow.. I'm pretty surprised by anyone on an Opeth forum to say the song is that terrible.

Tushe Burning skt, tushe. Well I love Opeth, don't get me wrong . . . according to your rational then you are correct sir and I am wrong . . . honestly the song doesn't suck ass, it's just not on par with anything Opeth had done IMHO . . . so that's all i mean.

What's wrong with fast guitar playing. Opeth solos were pretty similar in the past, so it's nice if Mikael continues the old, melody based soloing and Fredrik brings something new to the table.

I personally am not saying the song is bad....it is much different perhaps and that is good in a sense. I am jsut calling them out on their "technical difficulties" throughout the song and it just didn't have any emotion whatsoever...atleast none compared to their prior recording minus the new lineup. But it was nice and a pleasure to hear the new stuff! :)

Did anyone else watch Bass during this song? His fingers were all over the fretboard... I can't wait to hear the real version of the song so I can make out his dancing fingers.

Yea, but did you hear GoP on a shitty bootleg or the studio version?
This song will probably sound much more powerful on the studio recording..

I voted for Pwnful.

It's a really great song - awesome rythmics, variations and transitions.
The 'no clean vocals' choice is working really well for this song.

After reading some of the posts I must point out that unlike the godly Ghost Of Perdition, Heir Apparent is NOT the album opener... and it totally buries the rather weak (sorry Mr Akerfeldt...) Grand Conjuration.

This song has really got me excited about Watershed which I believe was the whole point of the performance.

i don't really understand everyone bitching about "oh the solo doesn't fit opeth", "it's just not opeth", "it's too generic"...
okay, first of all, why the fuck are you listening to a progressive death metal band, if you want them to sound the same way on every song, goddamnit?
i appreciate change, i'm not saying "whoa, that's the best opeth solo ever recorded", but i'm not being a total shithead by criticising every little thing i hear and don't like on a fucking bootleg concert video.
second of all, i have a feeling that all of you think it's not "opethy" anymore, as soon as your definition and expectation of their music doesn't match theirs, and that's fucking bullshit.
THEY'RE the fucking band, and it's not like they performed a fucking R'N'B song, it's still crushing, progressive and as much as i hate the term, opeth-like.
god, seriously, either expect them to be experimental with new styles, influences and yes, even solos, or stop listening to the new albums they'll put out.
if you want to hear my arms, your hearse (which, by the way, is my favorite album by them) regurgitated over and over and over, then you don't want the band to continue being what probably made you love them all those years/months/weeks/days ago, which is progressive, new, fresh on every album, you want them to be the fucking red hot chili peppers.

i have no problem with anyone saying they don't like this song, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion, but stop saying they don't sound like opeth, because in reality, they just don't sound like the opeth you'd want them to be, which pretty much goes against the concept of the band, or atleast that's what i believe.

I still maintain that this song rapes, and this is more than likely the "weakest" song on the album (Just like TGC was the weakest on GR). I'm very excited to hear what's in store for the rest of the album. The only complaint I have is that the drums seem a little bit too tame, after hearing Axe's performances on The Roundhouse Tapes and Unblessing the Purity,
