Fred's solo is pretty nice, he is giving some new energy to Opeth. Don't understand all the complaints about it.

You know its bad in the literal sense, not the michael jackson, ironic sense. But anyway, I like the solo too... don't get the slack. One thing I did notice was that Fred kinda showed hes not as used to finger picking stuff as Mikael. I could tell during a few of the parts.
Fred's solo is great, it brings new energy and it fits the song well which is overall VERY heavy. And besides it's not the first time they have had "shreddy" solo's on a record. I'm sure there will be plenty of emotive solo's on the rest of the record. This song owns, period.

The solo in White Cluster is very shreddy and no one has ever complained about it. It's also one of my favorite Opeth solo's. And
Fredrik's solo in Heir Apparent is also great in my opinion... has the more atmospheric side to it in the beginning which is very much
Opeth, and then moves into a more fast paced shred, which is almost unexpected and that's what I look for when I listen to a new
Opeth song. But overall the song sounds too much like something that would have been written for Blackwater Park, which is my
least favorite Opeth album after Deliverance so it loses some points for me there.

Mike shouldn't have let him solo.

edit: White Cluster solo is not very shreddy like the Heir Apparent solo. You can't even compare Fred's solo in Heir Apparent to White Cluster because White Cluster is leagues above it.

Why are people saying Opeth is dead?
Simply because they don't know opeth. These people don't understand what opeth is, they should give themselves sometime b4 comenting on the song. Wait and see, once the album is out the same people will suddenly turn into a die hard heir apparent fan.
