Hello to all. Layla's Dad here from Alabama. For some reason over here in Germany I cannot login with my old user name over here. When I come to the states, the ID and password work fine but here I have no success.
Anyway, the reason I posted is because I had to miss PPVII because I am working in Germany. I was scrolling thru the pix and I felt really bad for missing what I know was one helluva good time with the best fans in America. There is no shortage of shows here though and have had one hell of a time despite missing my family. I live about 10K from where they have the Bang Your Head fest in Balingen (bang-your-head.de). This year we had Jon Oliva's Pain, Death Angel, Flotsam & Jetsam, Raven and a bunch of others for two days. The crowds here are amazing. I still can't get over the reception Y&T got (Menniketti was hell with that Les Paul too) at Bang Your Head. Blind Guardian/Astral Doors in Stuttgart on 9 Sept was my own little mini PP and the crowd was so awesome that between song banter was almost impossible for the singing and chanting. Upcoming, we have Maiden in December in Stuttgart, Therion/Grave Digger in Feb. and Saxon in March. That's just what I plan on attending for sure, many more to choose from (WASP was in Crailsheim last Saturday but no Euros).
My biggest surprise here is that FRANK MARINO & MAHOGANY RUSH IS PLAYING THE VARIETY PLAYHOUSE IN OCTOBER. THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN MARINO. GO. FROM HIS SITE (OR MAYBE PROGRESSIVE EARS.COM), I SEE THAT HE IS PLAYING OVER 3 HRS. THAT WILL BE ONE HELL OF A SPECTACLE AT THAT WONDERFUL PLACE.
I am supposed to be home then....Now to twist my wife's arm and go myself.
Gonna be hard. She's still in Bama with the kids. I have been taking it on the chin because of the normal complications that I am not there to deal with. She has done one hell of a job though.
Peace to all.

I was wondering where you have been for the past few months. Now i know. To put it mildly you missed one hell of a time. It was three days of pure music and friends meeting. Some say it was the best yet. Sorry you missed it.

When this tenure ends (late 07 or early 08), I will never miss another PP as long as in existence. Thinking PP7 was the best ever only makes the thought of me missing the best gig in America worse. I have got enough to keep me pleased here and I have to begin working on mein Frau for Mahogany Rush. Rock on brother.

Dangit....you shoulda been there. What the hell was the problem?
QUOTE=monstershredder0003]heh.i missed it too,and i live right here in Georgia![/QUOTE]

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush...
Now there's a blast from the past...
I saw him live a few times back in the day.
Dude knows his way around a fret board for sure.

I feel your pain...I accepted a position with a company here in Kaliningrad, Russia with the stipulation that I get here ASAP. So...I missed this years PP also grrrrr.

Wow. That must be an experience. Are you close to a place that you can see some good bands. Stuttgart is not far from here and just about everybody passes through. Ministry was an exception.
The hardest part for me is missing my family. I have a wife and four kids at home. Two of my daughters are grown but I have younger children that need me at home now. My wife and I discussed me taking this job at length and in hindsight I wish I had not had taken the job. I think training over here will payoff in the long run, but I am only 8 months in. The company gives me five flights round trip a year and this training lasts approximately 24 months.

Absolutely. If the rumour is true that his performances are over 3 hrs, that is going to be a memorable night in Atlanta. The Variety Playhouse is a very cool venue also. I saw King Crimson there. I would love to go back when I am in the US.
