...not really, not in the sense I would have like it from them.

The once leaders of power metal come with the single of their upcoming album "Seven Sinners" and frankly is not good.

The drumming (I guess PM74 got me into this phobia  ) of the song is unbereably triggered/over-produced (I don't know the exact word to explain it), it just sound like any other modern power metal band (longing for Ingo's drumming in 'Save Us').
Yes the song is heavy but lacks flavor, lacks interest, it seems the band don't want to do anything different from any other band out here on the sub-genre.

The second song 'Raise The Noise' doesn't does better IMO, so basically the album starts with the wrong foot for me. Likewise Angra and Blind Guardian this year I feel the band has lost that feeling of we are the ones and we rule!. As a fan of power metal (specially European style) I feel kind of cheated this year buy the supposedly best in business.

Yeah those drums do sound triggered and kinda fake. The song ain't half bad though, it's what I've come to expect from power metal bands trying to toughen up their sound. The blast beats are really pissing me off though. Why does every new metal song have to have that crap? It's annoying.

I cant wait for this record. The band has been on a hot-streak of late, having released fantastic records since Dereis (sp?) joined. Helloween are one of the very few examples of a band replacing a departed, iconic frontman and actually improving for it.

I thought BG's new album was a lot closer to their classic sound & energy then their past 2 albums.

I just listened to Raise the Noise Wyvern and I really like it. A lot better than the new single. It's in the same vein of new Accept.. old school vibe, just a lot heavier. :)

The third song I'm Free is good too. The classic double bassy, uber fast melodic sound we've come to expect from Helloween.

In a way yes, but there are too much filler IMO, they could do better.

IMO they haven't released anything worthwhile since Uli and Roland left and after your review I'm certainly not willing to lose my time on their latest waste of plastic...

I'm agree and I'm actually regret to have bought the last three album, I should stopped with TDR. Wonder if I'm gonna wate money on this one after all I skip PBGA and "Chameleon" so why not another one? I will have to give more thought to it

Dunno, even Death Angel has it on the opener of the new album. I wasn't pay attention before but since you mention it I'm more aware of the situation and pissed too.

Dunno I may have to give a more through listening. Maybe I'm too demanding with bands lately, I'm getting old :saint:

Oh man I really don't want to hear this (that it's bad)...I ALWAYS look forward to every Helloween release and I like Deris quite a bit. He's got a very unique character to his voice IMHO. I went looking for the song on youtube.

Found this clip of album samples. Yes it does sound more computerized than their previous albums...hmmm...I'm still getting this..and I'm hoping it grows on me.
