Well i programed some drums on dfhs and the low toms really ring out to long for my taste. If i try and high pass the toms they lose there thickness, Is there a easy way to kinda make them die down quicker and keep there full low end? Also i know smaller toms can have weired ring outs and stuff and i know i could manually go and fade each tom manually but that would take forever!

Just wondering how you guys handle the toms in there situations?

This is a reason I'm a fan of battery. With that you can have all this stuff sorted within the sampler with the volume envelope etc. I'm assuming Superior 2 will have all that, and with all the libraries being compatible it'll be sweet.

What kind of settings would u use ?

Gates aren't really one of the 'artistic' tools we use when mixing, especially in this type of work. For any given sound there is pretty much only one setting that works for it. High ratio, fast attack, release for length of sustain. Not much else to it.

Gates are more fun for ducking and side-chained stuff.
